[Album] Photos from the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA

Earlier I shared photos from my two week trip down to NC.  Here is the first of three extensive photo galleries from the trip.

Overlanding US Military Style

This one is from the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA.  It was a very cool place to stop and see a bit of US history and pay tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives during the invasion of Normandy, France.

I’m not going to caption all of the photos but this first photo is significant not only to the memorial but the community of Bedford, Virginia.  “The Bedford Boys” were a group of local young men who all served together during the D-Day invasion.  Of the 30 young men from Bedford 19 would perish on the sandy beaches of Normandy.  With such a heavy loss from one community it was only fitting that a national memorial be located here.

Hopefully these photos will entice you to check out the National D-Day Memorial for yourselves.  It really is a very interesting place and well worth going out of your way to visit.
